Russian Draughts Cup 2001

Selection tournament to the championship of Russia of 2001 on the international checkers, being also a command Cup of Russia was held in a boarding house "Zhemchuzina", near town Zvenigorod of the Moscow area from April, 21 till April, 29. Strong enough structure of participants, participation in tournament of ex-world champion A.Schwartzman, have created an interesting creative atmosphere and gave many interesting parties. Unfortunately, it cannot be told about work of organizers and a judiciary board of tournament. Absolutely nonformalized tournament hall reminded more competition of regional scale. Pleases also, that at president RDF Mr. R.Klimashev have developed "fine and friendly"" relations with a management of a chief of boarding house, but it would be advisable to think and of expansion of geography of the Russian competitions. Except of Adler and the Moscow area in Russia it is a lot of the draughts centres where could organize, and organized, the championships on much more a high level. By the way, the requirement of Mr. R.Klimashev to participants of tournament to be placed only in a boarding house "Zhemchizina" to the detached onlooker it is not clear. It would be possible to explain it only his personal interest. But, you see it not so, whether the truth, Mr. R.Klimashev? At absence of any financing participants for the money have the right to be placed there where him it is more comfortable and in those conditions on which their means suffice them. It is universal practice. For the mentioned reason in tournament the international master Galashov and only the mass protest of other checkers players originally was not supposed has not allowed to make it. Tournament passed on the Swiss system in 9 rounds. The first three of winners looks as follows:

1. International grandmaster A.Schwartzman - 7,5 points
2. International grandmaster V.Milshin - 6,5 points
3. International grandmaster M.Amrilloev - 6 points

Alexander Schwartzman has very strongly lead in the all parties, having won seven and one with M. Amrilloev having drawn. To surprise, organizers have not found the convincing reason participation of the grandmaster in a memorial of famous coach N.M.Kurnosov and have not transferred at some o'clock the beginning of his party with V.Milshin, for what Alexander has received zero in table.And now some fragments of game given to us of V.Milshin.
